Normandy

Being given in 911 to Rollon, Leader of the Northmen, by King of France, Normandy kept(guarded) his(its,her) " Norman soul ". The Normans became famous then for one of most surprising expedition of the Middle Age, I named(appointed) the Conquest of England, led by Guillaume The Conqueror.

Closer of us, Normandy was the cradle of writers, poets and musicians: Corneille, Fontenelle, Gustave Flaubert, Alphonse Allais, Guy de Maupassant, Camille Saint Saëns, Erik Sati, Boieldieu....

The divison of Normandy was marked enough among the High and Low Normandy, but the technical exploit of the XX-th century (at first Tancarville's bridge in 1959, then that of Normandy in 1995) reduced this fracture.

Since 1989, the port(bearing) of Rouen took up with the tradition of the big sailboats and welcomes henceforth regularly big international assemblings. The next demonstration will take place in 2003.
